Facebook Disabled My Account
My Facebook Account Is Deactivated
Imagine my shock when I tried to sign into Facebook one morning only to get the adhering to message:
My account was disabled? What does that also mean?
I attempted to visit with another browser and I got the very same message. Facebook handicapped my account!
Facebook supplied a form entry web page for those wishing to contact Facebook about their impaired account, and also I emailed them basically asking why my account was disabled and just how I can obtain access back to the various web pages I'm an admin for. I explained that I handle a variety of pages for clients, and was constantly mindful regarding the web content I posted-- besides, my moms and dads get on Facebook also.
After sending the e-mail to Facebook, I sent out an e-mail to the buddies who's e-mail addresses I really had and described what took place. Thanks to the connect-ability of Facebook, the majority of my friends were only able to be spoken to by me on Facebook.
The replies I got from that e-mail were classified right into three various classifications:
- WTF/WTH-- why would certainly they do that ??
- Is it due to the fact that you published political stuff (I like Ron Paul and common web content concerning #OWS).
- Perhaps somebody flagged you.
I check out a few of the short articles by others that have had their accounts disabled to find out why mine was all of a sudden pulled-- without advising I should add. The publishing dates on the posts extend the lifetime of Facebook, showing that the business has forever been on a behind the curtain campaign of disabling accounts at their discretion.
I located some short articles by popular bloggers or journalists, including Roger Ebert, Robert Scoble, and also Stan Shroeder (Mashable). Most of these high-profiled Facebook individuals had their accounts and/or pages reabled soon after Facebook found who they disabled. For the rest of us, we're primarily on our very own.
Reading these short articles didn't instill much hope in me or my circumstance. The awareness of what I lost was beginning to set in as well.
For many years I had computers crash, swiped, lost, and so on and also depend on Facebook to hold all my traveling and party pictures. The internet site isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so why not upload all my photos on Facebook for my friends and also household to view at their discernment? There were well over 2000 photos, many videos, article (notes), plus all the contacts (I still have not been able to reconnect with several who were all lost when Facebook impaired my account). This was seeming a really stark situation as I even more realized simply what was shed.
I needed to gain back accessibility to Facebook to manage the web pages for my customers, and additionally for my very own business. Many of my web pages' admin access were shown to a companion and were easily held up up with the new Facebook account I begrudgingly produced, cursing Facebook under my breath as I established the brand-new account.
Some of the Facebook web pages admin access were shown my clients, whom I had to get in touch with to have them re-add me with my brand-new account. Every one of them asked "Why did your account get disabled?" and also rightfully so. I, also, would certainly examine the individual I paid to handle my Facebook page why their Facebook account was disabled. Wouldn't you?
I still do not have an answer to that concern. "I have no suggestion" is the answer I still offer, because its true. Facebook has still yet to give me a reason why my account was impaired. After reviewing the reasons Facebook impaired accounts on their page I was still in the dark. I really did not spam-add individuals, message sexual content, bug anybody. so why they deleted me didn't make good sense. Only after I check out other short articles did I understand a little bit extra.
Facebook can disable your account if your display screen name is different than that on your birth certification. Mine was, but not by much. It was still phonetically the same, yet meant various than the rest of my family members. I also had a client that recently made use of a contest promotion to raise their email list. According to Facebook advertising standards, contests can just be worked on Facebook via a couple of apps: ShortStack as well as WildFire. Could that be why my account was disabled? I checked that client's Facebook page as well as it was gone too. Aha!
Although the contest wasn't precisely held on Facebook (it was hosted on the client's site), and the victor was notified using e-mail (you can not introduce winners on your wall), I was certain this was the offending action which had me ushered off Facebook without even a 'Au revoir'.
Now it had to do with a week given that I originally composed Facebook that fateful morning, and I still had not received a reply. I took another look at the page enabling me to contact Facebook, and also discussed that I currently had a much better concept about why they disabled me, which I was sorry. I promised never ever to do something like that again (was it actually that negative??) if they simply reable my account.
I sent that off and waited once again. After a few more days I recognized something. something really important-- I developed a filter in gmail for Facebook e-mails. Even if they did email me, I would have never obtained the email because it was readied to "Miss Inbox/Delete". Extreme.
So I sent out another e-mail to Facebook, this time around letting them recognize that I had a filter on my gmail and if they did call me prior to this email, I would certainly have never ever received it.
A couple of days later on I finally received an e-mail from Javier at Facebook. Right here's the only feedback I'll likely obtain from Facebook:.
Hi,
Unfortunately, your account has been permanently disabled for violating Facebook’s Terms. We will not reactivate it for any reason.
This will be our last email regarding your account. For more information about our policies, please read the Facebook Community Standards: https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/
Thanks,
Javier
User Operations
What an adolescent action-- certain Facebook is a 'young' business, but I make certain there must be a person there with far better tact than 'we're not going to reable your account-- don't email us again.' OK Facebook.
So what did I gain from my experience with Facebook?
1. Back up your account! You never ever recognize if/when they'll decide to remove you.
2. Do not manage your numerous client's web pages with the exact same account. If one page/account gets deleted, you won't lose them all.
3. A great deal of my friends are snobs who's accounts are either hidden from search, or they disabled the "Include as a close friend" button making it difficult to re-add them.
Its been about a month considering that I had my account disabled, and had lots of time to assess the experience. I have not attempted to contact Facebook directly since I got the e-mail from Javier, however I did begin the website www.facebook-disabled-my-account.org, and the hashtag project on Twitter #FBdisabledMe to accentuate the adverse experience.
Do I want Facebook to transform their disabling policy? Nope.
I take care of a few MU sites and also if you want a person off your website, of course remove them/block them/whatever. But also for Facebook to disable the account as well as to maintain the data/photos/videos/ connections/blog articles, that is wrong. What would Facebook be if nobody uploaded content onto the website-- No images to share or tag-- No posts to Like-- No status updates to LOL at-- It would certainly be NOTHING.
Facebook should enable those who they disabled to download their account, letting them fetch their photos/videos/notes/ etc., before going off to the barren marshes of Google+, or to RT their pals standing updates (in contrast to 'Suching as' it). Facebook already makes it feasible for an energetic account to be downloaded, so why not an impaired account?
It's time for Facebook to get a bit more mature around-- especially with their IPO announced. I'm in fact thinking about buying stock just so they will need to listen to my grievance-- at the minimum I'll make money from them.
Have you had your Facebook account handicapped? Did you get it back, and also if so just how?
