Facebook Disabled My Account
Facebook Deactivated My Account
Picture my shock when I attempted to authorize into Facebook one early morning just to get the following message:
My account was disabled? What does that even mean?
I attempted to visit with an additional browser and I obtained the very same message. Facebook disabled my account!
Facebook supplied a kind submission web page for those desiring to write to Facebook regarding their impaired account, as well as I emailed them basically asking why my account was handicapped and also exactly how I can get gain access to back to the numerous pages I'm an admin for. I discussed that I handle a selection of pages for customers, as well as was constantly mindful about the material I published-- nevertheless, my parents get on Facebook also.
After sending the email to Facebook, I sent out an email to the friends that's e-mail addresses I really had and also clarified what took place. Thanks to the connect-ability of Facebook, the majority of my friends were only able to be called by me on Facebook.
The replies I got from that e-mail were classified right into 3 various classifications:
- WTF/WTH-- why would they do that ??
- Is it since you published political stuff (I such as Ron Paul and common content about #OWS).
- Perhaps someone flagged you.
I check out some of the write-ups by others that have had their accounts handicapped to discover why my own was unexpectedly pulled-- without warning I must include. The publishing dates on the write-ups extend the life time of Facebook, revealing that the firm has for life gotten on a behind the curtain project of disabling accounts at their discretion.
I discovered some write-ups by renowned blog owners or reporters, including Roger Ebert, Robert Scoble, and also Stan Shroeder (Mashable). Many of these high-profiled Facebook users had their profiles and/or pages reabled not long after Facebook discovered who they disabled. For the rest people, we're basically on our very own.
Reading these articles didn't impart much hope in me or my situation. The awareness of what I lost was starting to set in also.
Over the years I had computer systems crash, stolen, lost, etc. and relied on Facebook to hold all my traveling and also party images. The internet site isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so why not publish all my images on Facebook for my friends and family members to see at their discernment? There were well over 2000 photos, numerous videos, article (notes), plus all the contacts (I still haven't been able to reconnect with many that were all lost when Facebook disabled my account). This was looking to be a very grim situation as I further recognized just what was shed.
I needed to regain accessibility to Facebook to handle the web pages for my customers, as well as also for my own business. A lot of my pages' admin accessibility were shared with a companion and also were easily set back up with the brand-new Facebook account I begrudgingly produced, cursing Facebook under my breath as I established the brand-new account.
Some of the Facebook web pages admin accessibility were shared with my clients, whom I needed to call to have them re-add me with my new account. All of them asked "Why did your account obtain disabled?" and also rightfully so. I, as well, would question the individual I paid to handle my Facebook web page why their Facebook account was handicapped. Would not you?
I still do not have a solution to that inquiry. "I have no idea" is the answer I still offer, due to the fact that its true. Facebook has still yet to provide me a reason my account was handicapped. After checking out the reasons Facebook impaired accounts on their web page I was still in the dark. I didn't spam-add people, message sexual web content, bother any individual. so why they erased me really did not make good sense. Only after I check out other short articles did I understand a bit a lot more.
Facebook can disable your account if your screen name is various than that on your birth certificate. Mine was, yet not by much. It was still phonetically the very same, but spelled different than the rest of my family. I also had a client that just recently utilized a competition promo to boost their e-mail listing. According to Facebook advertising guidelines, competitions can only be operated on Facebook through one of two applications: ShortStack as well as WildFire. Could that be why my account was disabled? I inspected that customer's Facebook page and it was gone also. Aha!
Although the contest wasn't specifically hosted on Facebook (it was hosted on the client's web site), and the victor was notified using email (you can not announce winners on your wall), I was confident this was the annoying activity which had me brought in off Facebook without even a 'Adieu'.
At this moment it had to do with a week given that I at first composed Facebook that eventful early morning, as well as I still had not obtained a reply. I took another look at the web page allowing me to contact Facebook, and also clarified that I currently had a far better suggestion about why they disabled me, and that I was sorry. I swore never ever to do something like that again (was it truly that bad??) if they just reable my account.
I sent that off and waited once more. After a couple of more days I realized something. something very crucial-- I created a filter in gmail for Facebook emails. Even if they did email me, I would certainly have never obtained the email due to the fact that it was readied to "Avoid Inbox/Delete". Extreme.
So I sent out another e-mail to Facebook, this time letting them understand that I had a filter on my gmail as well as if they did contact me prior to this e-mail, I would have never obtained it.
A couple of days later I ultimately received an email from Javier at Facebook. Right here's the only response I'll likely get from Facebook:.
Hi,
Unfortunately, your account has been permanently disabled for violating Facebook’s Terms. We will not reactivate it for any reason.
This will be our last email regarding your account. For more information about our policies, please read the Facebook Community Standards: https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/
Thanks,

What a juvenile response-- sure Facebook is a 'young' firm, but I'm sure there need to be someone there with far better tact than 'we're not mosting likely to reable your account-- do not email us once again.' ALRIGHT Facebook.
So what did I learn from my experience with Facebook?
1. Back up your account! You never ever know if/when they'll make a decision to remove you.
2. Don't manage your numerous client's pages with the exact same account. If one page/account obtains deleted, you will not lose them all.
3. A lot of my friends are snobs who's accounts are either concealed from search, or they disabled the "Add as a friend" button making it impossible to re-add them.
Its had to do with a month given that I had my account handicapped, as well as had lots of time to assess the experience. I haven't tried to contact Facebook directly given that I got the e-mail from Javier, but I did start the web site www.facebook-disabled-my-account.org, as well as the hashtag project on Twitter #FBdisabledMe to accentuate the unfavorable experience.
Do I desire Facebook to transform their disabling policy? Nope.
I take care of a couple of MU sites and also if you want someone off your site, of course remove them/block them/whatever. But also for Facebook to disable the account and also to keep the data/photos/videos/ connections/blog blog posts, that is wrong. What would Facebook be if no one uploaded web content onto the site-- No photos to share or tag-- No short articles to Like-- No condition updates to LOL at-- It would certainly be ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Facebook must permit those that they disabled to download their account, letting them retrieve their photos/videos/notes/ etc., before going off to the barren wastelands of Google+, or to RT their close friends status updates (instead of 'Liking' it). Facebook currently makes it feasible for an active account to be downloaded, so why not a handicapped account?
It's time for Facebook to get a little bit elder in this area-- specifically with their IPO revealed. I'm in fact thinking about buying stock so they will certainly need to pay attention to my issue-- at the minimum I'll profit from them.
Have you had your Facebook account handicapped? Did you get it back, and also if so exactly how?
