Got this myself on my phone, and also it simply refused to update. Below's what benefited me.

Edit: this appears to be a concern that Facebook are aware of. It's a problem with the Facebook application, and not a generalised Play Shop issue.

This is what worked for me at the very least.

  1. Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Shop, Clear information and also Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Provider > Manage room, Clear all information and Clear cache


It doesn't harmed if you restart your phone before you try updating facebook again. And, the set up was SLOW. Simply at the very least 4-5 mins. Yet, it did job. If not try to uninstall it, or simply wait on a solution.
